Brad Humphrey
James Bradford Humphrey IV is the eldest of three children, born to J.B. Humphrey III and Jean Stowe Humphrey. He was raised in the great city of Charlotte, NC and as a young boy, Brad’s parents instilled in him a great sense of pride, moral value and a great love for God and family.

Brad attended Florida A&M University, where he received his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, on a full academic scholarship provided by NASA. After graduating from college, Brad encountered a “crossroads”; trying to find direction in his life. He experienced an epiphany while reading the memoirs of his great-great grandfather, slave-born Wesley Mauney. In these memoirs, education was highlighted as being paramount and he was encouraged to obtain “as much education as possible.” As a result, Brad began his pursuit of a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering at Florida State University in January of 2005, and is currently working on completing his thesis defense.

While attending graduate school, Brad returned to his roots, the church. Upon his return, Brad felt God call him to the service of Christian minister. Brad accepted this calling in August of 2005 under the guidance & mentorship of Pastor Calvin McFadden at Community of Faith Church in Tallahassee, FL and delivered his trial sermon on April 31, 2006. He proudly became a fourth generation minister when he was subsequently ordained and licensed as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ on January 31, 2007. As a minister at Community of Faith Church, Brad became very active founding Men of Tomorrow Today (M.O.T.T.), a mentoring program for boys, and Academic Excellence & Enrichment Tutoring Program. He was also the co-coordinator of the Collegiate Ministry, was very active in the Youth Ministry, and engaged in various Bible Study programs.

In January of 2007, Brad moved to Atlanta, GA to pursue a career in engineering. As Brad stepped out on faith and moved to Atlanta, he brought along his love for God and for people as well as his desire to make a difference. Out of this desire Brad began Greater Faith Christian Ministries, a local Bible study. At this time God also birthed in him the vision that became B.A.S.I.C. Empowerment Corporation. Brad shared this vision with a group of close friends and discovered that they too shared the same passion and motivation to make a difference. B.A.S.I.C. Empowerment Corporation, which stands for “Brothers And Sisters In Christ”, was officially formed and recognized by the state of Georgia on June 15, 2007. Brad is excited about all that God has in store for this ministry and is determined to fulfill his lifelong commitment to God and to all of God’s people.

Rashad L. Graham
Coming into this world as the seed of two untimely parents, the family of Rashad Graham was determined to establish a righteous path in which to direct his life upon. While an infant, sitting at his father’s high school graduation in Charlotte, NC, his parents realized the newly acquired responsibility that was upon them. They must teach this child not only how to survive in this earthly world but how to live for an eternal life in heaven.

These basic principles that that were instilled into Rashad during his development produced a cycle in which he felt obligated to do the same for others given the opportunity. This since of duty followed Rashad to North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC where he was actively involved in the Peer Mentor Program which allowed him he take multiple underclassmen under his wing each school year to help them adjust to life at the university. Here, he also became a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. where he volunteered with several programs such as Project Alpha, which is in partnership with March of Dimes, Go-To-High School Go-To-College, and A Voteless People Is A Hopeless People. These programs helped educate young adults on the importance of health and sexual awareness, how to continue their education into college, and how to become responsible citizens within their community.

When Rashad was given the opportunity to work with B.A.S.I.C. Empowerment Corporation, he took it without hesitation. Along with the other members of the organization, he will use it as a vessel, to not only promote academic and social initiatives, but to also instill biblical principles into our society’s lost.
